Multifaceted gem: Siyane Toastmasters ClubView(s):
Effective communication and leadership skills add value to a person and enrich society. That is the primary objective of a Toastmasters Club. Siyane Toastmasters Club has been effectively fulfilling this objective for over a decade as a prominent Toastmasters Club in Sri Lanka.
The club supports its members in every aspect of the Toastmasters’ journey. The support provided to speakers during contest season through the ‘Siyane Boot Camp’ is one unique feature. This programme has successfully taken members to the division stage and beyond.
Siyane Toastmasters Club widened its horizons by initiating several other programmes. These activities add value to Toastmasters training. That is how the Siyane Western Dancing Programme came to life, led by TM Gamunu Jayasundara. This programme is conducted for beginners to train them in Ballroom dancing, which will benefit them in their social life.
‘Siyane Sports Fiesta’ was organised by TM Pubudu Ginige to enhance physical fitness of members. An indoor cricket match was scheduled at Makro, Gampaha. This programme has been extended to weekly badminton sessions and once-a-month cricket and badminton matches.
To improve English writing skills of members, the ‘Tales Around the Fire’ short story competition was introduced by TM Roshini Perera. This was to enhance the quality of speech scripts and improve general language skills of members. A series of workshops related to fiction writing was also conducted. The entries are to be published.
