China’s Wenfei Yu bags two titles in ITF Juniors Week 2

The ITF Junior Tennis Week 2 tennis tournament came to an end with defending champion Wenfei Yu of China, who also won the Week 1 tournament, going a step further to retain the Girls’ Singles title with a convincing 2-0 win over Zi Ye Zhang at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.

Yu also bagged the Doubles title partnering with compatriot Zi Ying Ruan as the pair outclassed another Chinese pair Ruining Wan and Zi Ye Zhang in the final by the same winning margin 2-0.

In the Boys’ Singles, Ferdinand Livet Novkirichka of France, who ended up as the runner-up of the Week 1 tournament, bagged the title with a comfortable 2-0 win over Faried Widyarohmadhiansyah of Indonesia. In an all-India Doubles final Tanussh Ghildyal and Dhiraj Reddy Vennapusa got the better of fellow countrymen Josh Hinton and Swastik Sharma with ease to clinch the title.

  •   Girls’ Singles: Wenfei Yu (China) beat Zi Ye Zhang (China) 2-0 (6/2, 7/5)
  •   Boys’ Singles: Ferdinand Livet Novkirichka (France) beat Faried Widyarohmadhiansyah (Indonesia) 2-0 (6/2, 6/1)
  •   Girls’ Doubles: Wenfei Yu/Zi Ying Ruan (China) beat Ruining Wan/Zi Ye Zhang (China) 2-0 (6/3, 6/4)
  •   Boys’ Doubles: Tanussh Ghildyal/Dhiraj Reddy Vennapusa (India) beat Josh Hinton/Swastik Sharma (India) 2-0 (6/4, 7/6)
