During the last three years, the technological and communication needs of the country have witnessed enormous acceleration and change and this led to the 2021 process where SLT and Mobitel brands were unified.

This brand unification merged fixed and mobile telecommunications services, as well as the organisation’s technology and communication expertise, the company said in the statement.

With a vision to transform from a Telco company into a Techco (technology and communication) organisation, SLT-MOBITEL’s sole vision is to provide state-of-the-art solutions to individual customers, corporates and investors whilst supporting the growth of the country’s vital IT sector and enable socioeconomic progress.

Elaborating on the transformation, Group CEO Lalith Seneviratne said, “Like any progressive business, transformation is critical to evolve and navigate challenging market conditions, to secure business sustainability and enable a future-ready workforce. SLT-MOBITEL is resolute in realising our single-minded vision systematically, to grow the organisation and meet the needs of the country.”

He added that, “With the coming together of two entities, there is a depth of talent within different verticals. Finding the synergy among them and harnessing their full capability is important. Several key changes and improvements were implemented in 2022 within the organisation as part of this transformation. Similarly, further alignment of the organisation’s various verticals took place at the start of 2023. These internal changes importantly will give our existing talent pool opportunities and career progression. We have informed all our staff of each transformation process and are continuously educating them of the critical need for us as an organisation to offer end-to-end integrated technology and communication solutions to the country.”

This transformational journey which began in 2021 is showing clear results for the business. The success achieved to-date is showcased by the SLT Group reporting Net Profit After Tax of Rs 6.05 billion for the first nine months of last year, despite 2022 being one of the most difficult periods in the history
of Sri Lanka.
