The programme emphasizes on the development of students’ core competencies in English Language & Communication skills with a focus on preparing students for higher studies and specialized modules in Computing and Business; therefore, providing students with the opportunity to proceed toward undergraduate studies. Mainly the programme consists of six core units such as the Developing English Language Skills module which focuses on developing the communicative English language skills of the students through reading, writing, listening and speaking, the Advanced English Language Skills module which focuses on the language acquisition of the students in a more advanced manner with much focus into an extensive use of the afore-mentioned four skills, the English for Academic Purposes module with much focus on moulding the academic writing skills of the students, the Study and Communication Skills module in equipping the students with the essential study skills they need in succeeding in the university level, the Cultural Studies module in enabling the awareness and the understanding of different cultures and practices in the modern sense and the Foundation Mathematics module in increasing the Mathematical knowledge of the students.
Moreover, the students need to take two more units with the choice of ten electives. They are Introduction to Computer Science, Introduction to Programming, Introduction to Business, Introduction to Accounting and Economics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, and Higher Finance. The International Foundation Diploma is a valuable university preparation qualification which allows students to demonstrate their English language skills (both general and academic) together with key transferrable study skills, cultural knowledge, and mathematical understanding, as well as an understanding of the essential concepts of business and economics (Business electives), the essential concepts of computing and programming (Computing electives) or the essential mathematical and physics. It is a programme which is recognized and valued by many universities, both in the UK and in other countries paving the path for students of different locals to study in global universities.
