APIIT Launches ICAEW Study Programme in Partnership with CA Sri Lanka

The Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) Sri Lanka is pleased to announce the launch of an Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) study programme in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).

This unique and pioneering arrangement allows for students to acquire dual professional qualifications from CA Sri Lanka and ICAEW. With the launch of this new pathway, students currently studying for the CA Sri Lanka professional qualification in Chartered Accounting have an affordable fast-tracked route to gain an internationally recognised professional qualification from ICAEW.

Founded in 1880, ICAEW has a long history of serving the public interest and works with governments, regulators and business leaders globally. As a world-leading improvement regulator, ICAEW supervises and monitors around 12,000 firms, holding them, and all ICAEW members and students, to the highest standards of professional competency and conduct. ICAEW is a founding member of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW), a global family that connects over 1.8m chartered accountants and students in more than 190 countries.

CA Sri Lanka is the National Body of Accountants, and stakes claim to being the preferred and recognised destination for accountancy education in Sri Lanka, with a student population of 30,000 who aspire to be Professional Accountants including Chartered Accountants. CA Sri Lanka has produced over 8000 Chartered Accountants, who are recognised for their professional integrity, exceptional technical and perceptive skills, as well as financial discipline and out of the box thinking.

APIIT Sri Lanka conducts undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Business, Computing and Law awarded by Staffordshire University, UK. With a current student population of over 2000 students and an annual intake over 1000 students, APIIT Sri Lanka is the largest provider of British degree programmes in Sri Lanka. Over the past 22 years, APIIT has produced nearly 5,000 resourceful and enterprising graduates and has set a benchmark for quality and standards in private higher education Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Bandula Egodage, Chairman of APIIT Sri Lanka appreciated the stringent process of due diligence by ICAEW, CA Sri Lanka and APIIT that preceded the formalizing of the arrangement and remarked that “given the stature of ICAEW, the expertise of CA Sri Lanka and the spirit of inspiring love for learning that APIIT brings into the partnership, we are embarking on a journey destined for success”.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, President of CA Sri Lanka noted that “this unique arrangement will benefit the large population of students who aspire to become accounting professionals by ensuring that they have an affordable pathway to gain an internationally recognised qualification that increases their international mobility and enables them to seek gainful employment opportunities anywhere in the world”.
