Plantation sector schools to see expansion

The Education Ministry’s proposal to expand schools in the plantation sector received Cabinet approval last week. Under the plan, up to two acres of land will be allocated to each of the 354 schools in seven districts, in estates owned by the Government.

Accordingly non-profit making companies managing the estates will be requested to grant the land to these schools. Also under this programme a further 491schools will be identified for the grant.
