Planetarium attracts over 200,000 visitors, earns over Rs 11m in 2017

The Planetarium conducted 466 shows last year, attracting more than 200,000 visitors, and earning over Rs 11 million from ticket sales, states the Annual Report of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Research (MSTR).

Last year’s programmes included Planetarium Presentations, Outdoor Programmes, Astronomy Classes, Seminars and other activities, in order to share advancements and up to-date knowledge on Astronomy, with the general public.

The Planetarium’s shows included Astronomy-related 3-D films, “Introduction to the Solar system”, with presentations on “Today’s night sky” conducted for schoolchildren and general public, throughout 2017.

Programmes were also conducted countrywide throughout the year, to enhance the knowledge among those interested in Astronomy. All these programmes were conducted free of charge, as a Social Responsibility.
