CDB, Kanrich Finance ‘B’ enter final with contrasting semifinal wins
Unbeaten Citizens Development Business (CDB) and unbeaten Kanrich Finance (Kanrich) ‘B’ reached the finals of the 7th Prestige Automobile (Pvt) Ltd. sponsored ‘BMW-Hyundai’ Trophy, MCA ‘C’ Division 50-Over League Tournament 2018.
In the rain-interrupted semifinals played last Saturday, CDB had a close call, before gaining a 2-wickets win over Nations Trust Bank (NTB) ‘A’ whilst Kanrich ‘B’ had an easy 9-wickets win over PABC Bank (PABC). Both games went through on the D&L Method.
CDB’s win was initially fashioned by Shaluka Silva (6.1-0-24-5) restricting NTB ‘A’ to 193 in 44.1 overs. Chathuranga Dickumbura made a quickfire 41 runs, while Chamod Piyumal remained unbeaten with a useful 25 runs at the end, as CDB, after rain stoppage, nosed through to win by 2 wickets. Another sterling all-round performance by Tharushan Iddamalgoda (4/29 and 52 not out) steered Kanrich ‘B’ to a resounding 9-wickets win over PABC.
