Neil Rajapakse takes over NCC Cricket Academy

Director of Cricket and Head Coach of the NCC Cricket Academy, Dilip Somaratne, has decided to return to Melbourne, Australia, due to health and family reasons.

The highly regarded and respected Somaratne has had a successful coaching career for over 30 years, as Head Coach of St. Peter’s College and as Director of Cricket and Head Coach of Royal College, prior to taking over the NCC Academy two-and-a half-years-ago, following the death of Lionel Mendis.

During his time at the Academy, it has gone from strength to strength. At the same time there are a large inquiries by budding cricketers who are keen to join in.

He is also instrumental in the Academy taking part in the CDCA Division III tournament this year, to further encourage cricketers to develop and remain at NCC and ultimately represent NCC in the Premier League.

Neil Rajapakse a well respected Cricket Coach, who has was Head Coach of Wesley, St.Sebastian’s and Royal College, and Premier Clubs BRC and Lankans CC, has taken over the reigns from Somaratne.
