Pathum Boteju was unfortunate to miss out on a ton but his knock of 93 with five boundaries helped Mahanama make a grand recovery.  He along with Sonal Dinusha who chipped in with 44 put on a valuable 81 runs stand for the eighth wicket in their drawn 12th Battle of the Gold’s big match against D. S. Senanayake College concluded at P. Sara Stadium yesterday.

The duo’s valuable partnership enabled Mahanama make a score of 217 for 9 declared.

The opening day’s play saw DSS  taking first lease of the wicket being restricted by Mahanama skipper Heshan Hettiarachchi and Sonal Dinusha who together share eight wickets for a score of 156 and batting the second time ended the day on 76 for 5.

Moratu MV dominated proceedings against fancied Sri Sumangala Panadura in their drawn 66th Battle of the Gold’s big match which ended at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa yesterday.

Moratu MV’s bowling trio Eran Hansmal, Nadith Mishendra and Prashan Fernando shared nine wickets to bowl out Sri Sumangala for a low score of 140. This was in reply to Moratu MV’s score of 210 for 9 declared on day one; which came on the back of a fine knock of 97 made by Chamalka Fernando.
