Teacher trade unions protest 3,376 Teacher appointments

Teacher trade unions are up in arms over the recent 3,376 Teacher appointments due to improper allocation of schools. Ceylon Teachers Services Union President Mahinda Jayasinghe said female Teachers have been appointed to locations where there is no accommodation and others to where there are no vacancies.

“We have appealed to the Ministry Secretary who assured that measures will be taken to rectify the situation, but no action has been taken,” he said.
He said they intend filing a petition with the Human Rights Commission and initiate Legal action. - DW
