Tusker from Myanmar handed over to the Dalada Maligawa

Amidst chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha in the Audience Hall, or Magul Maduwa, President Maithripala Sirisena handed over the tusker gifted by the President of Myanmar to the Sri Dalada Maligawa on Friday.

The tusker, known as ‘Golden Flower’ in Mayanmar, has been re-named ‘Pulasthi Raja’.

The Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter, Ven. Panditha Warakagoda Gunaratne Thera, Anunayake of Asgiri Chapter Ven. Panditha Wendurawe Upali Thera, Anunayake of Malwatta Ven. Dimbulkumbure Vimalabudhi Thera, Nayake Thera in Service of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Ven. Tibbotuwawe Medankara Thera and other members of the Sangha were present.

The President handed over the deed of gift in a silver Manjusawa and a silver goad to Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela. Tokens were also presented to the two mahouts from Myanmar and the veterinarian Dr. Kyew Soe who accompanied the tusker.
