DIG Nagahamulla moved to CID with immediate effect

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police B.R.S.R. Nagahamulla has been appointed DIG- Criminal Investigation Dept (CID) with immediate effect, by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).  He will serve under Senior DIG- CID, Ravi Seneviratne.

DIG Nagahamulla, a past pupil of St. Mary’s College, Kegalle, joined the Police Dept in 1984. He later joined the Special Task Force (STF) and served 10 years in Operational areas. DIG Nagahamulla was also one of the first members of this elite police unit.

In 1994, he was promoted Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Kadawatha Police, rising through the ranks to become Headquarters Inspector (HQI) Peliyagoda and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Horana.

For the past three years he has been Director- CID, as a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), before being promoted DIG.
Meanwhile, SSP Shani Abeysekara has been promoted Director- CID.
