Medical Faculty soon for Moratuwa University- UGC

The University of Moratuwa (UoM) will have a Medical Faculty soon, said Chairman- University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof Mohan de Silva.
He said the proposal by the UoM Council has been approved by the UGC. “We have already started on the preliminary work to prepare the required standards for the Medical Faculty.”

He said, initially, the plan is to enrol some 100 students to the Faculty, and use the Panadura and Kalutara Hospitals for the clinicals, while for specialised training, they intend to use the Kalubowila Hospital. He said they hope to finalise by next year, plans regarding the standards, in keeping with UGC guidelines. – DW
