The 2nd Derana ‘Lokaya Saha Lokayo’ International Kite festival was held last Sunday 21st August at the Galle Face Green. This is by far the biggest Kite festival ever held in Sri Lanka. Large crowds well over 200,000 witnesed this colourful event.

The competition was conducted in six different categories including the  ‘most creative kite’,  ‘The most colourful kite’,  ‘The biggest  Kite’,  ‘the smallest kite’ etc. This year’s competition was officiated by three international judges from Malaysia.

A colourful entertainment show was also held along with the kite festival with many celebrities from the local entertainment industry gracing the occasion. The world famous Australian Rob Vickery popularly know n as ‘The Running Man’ had also entertained the crowd.
