NWSDB proposes solution to control future Chlorine leaks

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has proposed a solution to the recent Chlorine gas leak that took place two weeks ago in Avissawella, Engineering Assistant R.A.S Ananda of the NWSDB Avissawella said. He added that NWSDB has proposed to carry out development activities at the NWSDB building situated at Penrith Estate, Puwakpitiya, Avissawella.

“The NWSDB intends to build a wall round the water supply station, shielding the houses situated around it,” he said. Mr. Ananda said that the NWSDB has ordered to refraining from changing chlorine cylinders after 5 pm, to avoid such leakages. He said that warning indicators fixed at the supply station will alert the estate people of future accidents.
Mr. Ananda’s designation was inadvertently given as Engineer in the October 13 Sunday Times.
