Several Sri Lanka Cricket Executive members recently visited Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa with a view of providing facilities for the respective districts to enhance Infrastructure Development in these areas.

The Executive Committee Members on tour comprised Mohan De Silva (Vice President), Nishantha Ranatunga (Secretary), Irwin Jayawardene and Dr. Sanjay Sedara.

The development program which currently covers 21 districts, aims to increase the number of cricketers engaged in the game.
The following projects were identified in the respective Districts:

Monaragala District – Technical College Grounds- ground leveling, grass planting and overhead water tank.

Colombo District – 2 side wickets and a bowling machine to the Colombo District center at BRC.

Nuwara Eliya District – Radella Stadium – Center Matting Wicket two side wickets and repairs to the pavilion.

Polonnaruwa District – Cricket Equipment for 6 Schools to be distributed. Five cricket coaches for 5 Schools. Infrastructure facilities development for 6 Schools in the area February and March 2014.

Batticaloa District — New cricket ground to be built in Thiraimadu. Six School Cricket Coaches for Schools. Six selected schools will be provided with Cricket Equipment

Trincomalee District – 6 Schools will be given Cricket Equipment, 5 Coaches for selected 5 Schools.

In addition to the above Sri Lanka Cricket also decided to provide a grass cutter to the Radella Cricket Grounds and also provided a Hakka Roller to Trinity College in order to enhance the ground facilities of the School.

Several other Districts will be visited in the near future for identifying Infrastructure Development.
