Senior Citizens Scrabble on Oct.27
View(s):The annual All-Island Senior Citizens Scrabble Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Senior Citizens, will take place on October 27 (Sunday) at the Colombo Hilton.
This event which will be held for the 13thconsecutive year is open to Sri Lankans over the age of 50.At stake will be the Deshabandu Motwani Cup.
Registration will be from 7.30 to 8.30 am. The games will begin at 9 am.
Play will be in two categories. “A” category players will vie for the championship. Words used will be from the Collins Scrabble Words 2007, the internationally accepted dictionary now in use.
The “B” category will be for participants who prefer the old style of play using traditional words from the Oxford English Dictionary. Prizes will be awarded for the highest game score and the highest word score. In addition there will be Spot Prizes for each of the gamed that will be played.
