Sri Lanka Foundation (SLF) was popularly known as the premier adult education center in Sri Lanka. However today SLF has turned out to be an institute functioning as a centre for leadership, education and training which operates under the purview of the Presidential secretariat and is managed by a board of management under the leadership of Prof Ranjith Bandara. The year 2013 is a special Year for SLF as it celebrates 40 years of its existence and service to the nation. SLF is ready to embark on a novel initiative to mark this important milestone by hosting the Public Sector Leadership Award 2013. SLF has a wide mandate and therefore has the advantage of contributing in a big way both to the economy and to society at large encompassing diverse fields.

SLF has collaborated with a large number of national and international institutions to expand its resource base and to explore new horizons in real life education in many different spheres of training and learning. The long-term goal which is keeping in line with the ‘Mahinda Chinthana – vision for the Future’ is to position SLF as a self-sustained entity of excellence in leadership, education and training in Sri Lanka. This is complemented by the collaborations and affiliations with prestigious Higher Educational Institutions, Professional Bodies and Research Organizations. The Open University of Sri Lanka, The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, The Optometry Association, Shippers Academy, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), TASMAC, The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Education, Certified Accountants of Sri Lanka, National Apprentice and Industrial Training Agency, Film and Television Training Institute of India-Pune, Lal Prasad Film Academy-India, Maharishi Aravind Foundation, Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and several other organizations have already entered into strategic partnerships and affiliations with the SLF. These affiliations will enable the Foundation to offer qualifications at higher levels, and also cater to a larger, diversified market under one roof.

It is indeed of paramount importance to cultivate professionals who are visionary, dynamic and innovative. SLF is equipped with a multi-disciplined panel of both in-house and visiting specialists and a wealth of star class facilities to discover and nurture them in a well-maintained location in the heart of Colombo. SLF is extremely conscious of to the necessities of today’s corporate world as well as to the emerging demands of the public sector and perpetually strives to identify and address these requirements. It is attuned to offer a wide range of highly relevant programmes that could cater to needs from the bottom to higher levels of developing human capital, thereby making them intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually balanced human beings.

With the upcoming move to launch graduate and postgraduate studies SLF heralds a new chapter in the history of education in Sri Lanka. It will be the dawn of a new era in education not merely because SLF offers higher study opportunities but because it offers them at unmatchable and unparalleled competitive prices incorporating quality with global blend and endorsement. SLF is pleased to invite all those who wish to enrich their educational paths irrespective of their disciplines to make use of the valuable opportunities available at SLF. Anybody who walks into SLF would witness the rigorous transformation process that is taking place at an educational institution with state of art facilities.

The significant attribute is that SLF has focused on a series of varied subjects and content operating under a number of main clusters or units which cannot be paralleled to or matched with any single entity in the country. They are the Social and Institutional Development Unit, Psychology and Counseling Unit, Business and Enterprises Development Unit, Language and ICT Unit, Digital Film Academy, Tourism and Hospitality Management Unit, Centre for Wellbeing, Strategic Partnerships and Externally Funded Projects and also a Research and Publication Unit. These are further consolidated with an upcoming library reposition drive with a refurbished library having a grand look and state of the art facilities; display of brochures; revamped website; wi-fi enabled logistics set up; modern computer lab, etc. In overall, the entire institution is undergoing a remarkable infrastructure development process.

As an educational institute SLF is monitored by a Board of Studies, Board of Examiners and a separate Academic Registrar Unit to maintain quality assurance and standards. All study programmes have been registered under the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka. Study programmes are designed to keep in line with the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework. Apart from the annual convocation and certification ceremonies, there are a number of certification ceremonies for other study programmes and tailor-made programmes due to the large number of programmes conducted to cater to specific demands of various industries
