to prevent students falling victim to dengue.

The Education Ministry y has directed them to submit monthly reports to their respective heads, assuring that the school’s environment or the respective institution is free of dengue.

In addition, the Examinations Department, Teachers Training schools and the National Institute of Education have also to submit similar reports.

In a fresh bid to create awareness about dengue eradication, the Education ministry this week launched a week-long anti-dengue campaign called ‘Protect the Child- Eradicate Dengue’, which ends today.

Schools were directed to clean up their compounds, roofs, gutters, playgrounds, and create awareness among students and parents.
An Education ministry spokesman told Education Times that the week-long programme was organised following a directive from President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The programme was launched after statistics revealed that school children were among the main victims of dengue.

Schools were expected to organise a committee and coordinate with health officials in the area to conduct the anti-Dengue campaign.
