IT Mastermind semi finals begin, sponsored by ESOFT

The semi finals of the IT Mastermind quiz programme organized by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) with the full sponsorship of ESOFT Computer Studies have begun, and is telecast live every Sunday at 5.30 pm on Independent Television Network (ITN).

Sixty four students, who have been selected for the final round, are vying for the semi finals in eight groups of eight students. The final round will be held between the eight students who are selected at the end of the semi finals.

The semi finals, as well as the final round, will be telecast live over the Independent Television Network (ITN). Valuable certificates will be presented to the 64 semi finalists and the eight finalists will be presented with vouchers for Rs.15000 each and medals. The winner of the final round will win a laptop computer valued at Rs.75000 and his or her school will be presented with computer peripherals valued at Rs.100, 000.

The contestant bagging the second place will win a laptop computer worth Rs. 50,000 and his or her school will be awarded computer peripherals worth Rs. 50,000. The contestant winning in the third place will be awarded a Slimtop computer worth Rs.35, 000 and his or her school will get computer peripherals to the value of Rs.25, 000.

Thousands of school children representing all parts of Sri Lanka including the North and the East entered this quiz programme which was open to all students of national and international schools aged between 15 to 18 years.

Initially they were subjected to a web-based test and subsequently subjected to a written test. The 64 most suitable contestants were selected based on the results of these tests. The Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) is the apex body representing the ICT professional field in Sri Lanka and it is providing yeoman services to the ICT field of the country.

IT Mastermind quiz programme is the newest programme launched by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka for the national upliftment of the ICT field. The programme is being held for the first time this year and from this year, it will be held on a yearly basis. This programme is open for all national and international schools of Sri Lanka.

The strategic partner for the IT Mastermind quiz programme is ESOFT Computer Studies. ESOFT is the largest computer and ICT education institution in Sri Lanka with the most number of branches in the island where all computer and ICT education courses are available under one roof at very competitive rates.

Considering the upgrading of the ICT knowledge of students and the general public a matter of national importance, the management of the ESOFT Computer Studies has decided to provide strategic partnership to the IT Mastermind Quiz Programme this year, and five more years to come.
