American Alumni Association collaborates with CandleAid Lanka to help a school

CandleAid along with the American Alumni Association (AAA) of Sri Lanka recently embarked on a project to support the Osuvinna Secondary School, Tissamanharama in the Hambantota District. The school was in dire need of a library and CandleAid stepped in with the support of the AAA to provide the school with books for the library, cabinets and computers, the association said.

The association raised funds for this worthy project through a “Back to College Night” which was held at the Colombo 80 Club in November 2010. The event consisted of fun and games for the entire family along with a raffle draw which helped raise the monies donated towards this cause.

On behalf of the association the presentation was made in Colombo by Patricia A. Butenis, United States Ambassador to Sri Lankan to the Principal K.D. Weerasinghe and staff member O.G. Sampath who represented the school.
