St. Anthony’s overcome Wesley

The Anthonians beat Wesley by 25 points (1 goal, 3 tries, 1 penalty) to 10 (1 goal, 1 penalty) at Nittawela yesterday. At lemons the home team led 10-7. Wesley sprang a surprise when winger Lahiru Perera scored and Roshan Pramuk converted. Fly half Chamara Kumara made it 7-3 by putting over a penalty. Hooker Haren Premalal touched down just before the break and Chamara Kumara converted to make it 10-7.

Roshan Pramuk converted a penalty early in the second half to tie the scores at 10 all. That’s how it stayed until the last ten minutes or so. Number eight Sanka Rajaguru went over twice and prop Nirodha Suriyabandara also scored with minutes to go. The last three tries were not converted.
