The Old Wesleyites Cricket Carnival 2011 will take place at the college grounds on the Sunday, 29th of May 2011. The annual event organized by the Old Wesleyites Sports Club (OWSC) along with the Old Boys Union (OBU) has now become a much looked forward to event which has also now become a permanent event for Old Wesleyites and is being held for the fourth successive year.
The cricket carnival is eventfully organized by the OWSC and OBU with the aim of giving entertainment for the whole family of the old boys and even friends of Wesleyites.
The main event of the day is the inter-batch Six a Side softball cricket tournament. The success of the carnival thus far has been the aspect of inter batch rivalry where the loyalty to their respective batches, among the double blues, which brings about an intense competition on field, and warm brotherhood, of the fraternal band of Double Blue, off the field . Where, the men of grit will enjoy a ride of nostalgia and camaraderie.
In fairness to all batches, there will be three different age groups battling for their respective group titles which will be played on a league format. Due to the League nature of the game all participants will have to remain till the grand finale of events which would make the event livelier.
Apart from the cricket tournament there will be a DJ present though out the event to provide entertainment for the young and the young at heart. The railway carriage will be open with the OWSC kitchen dishing out gastronomic delicacies and a barbecue action station to make sure the boys are in good cheer and in the spirit of camaraderie.
Bouncers, ice cream and entertainment for kids, food stalls and gossip for the wives makes it a great day full of fun for the whole family. An official of the organizing committee said that through the years we have experienced the spectator interest and population of family and friends keep growing. So don’t come alone bring your family too.
The respective batches who will be participating along with their supporters are requested to book a tent for at least by Friday the 26th of May.
