A sound approach to strategic level @ Wisdom

Having surpassed the tedious technicalities of Operational and Managerial levels, now you are faced with yet another challenging stage in the CIMA curriculum. Strategy, frankly, is different from the previous two levels; there is very little theory for you to learn. It is more about, well, the fun part in your career as a management accountant!

This means that literally, you are now at the threshold of ‘real’ management accountancy… hence the reason why you need the best of coaching. And this is exactly what we at Wisdom guarantee.
Strategic level at Wisdom follows a strategically sound approach, tested over time to bring out the best of results. It is never about memorizing theory so often despised by the students. Within the Wisdom Strategic Level classroom, you will mould yourself to be a true management accountant who makes proper and prudent business decisions under challenging circumstances.

Our panel of lecturers for Strategic level consists of three widely respected individuals with the most diverse corporate experience. Their exposure to the corporate world and the resultant knowledge base, make them purely incomparable; the best is at Wisdom.

To get you through the intricacies of the financials, Wisdom presents Sugeeth Patabendige as your lecturer for Financial Strategy. Sugeeth’s track record as a CIMA lecturer is beyond comparison; he is admired by his students for his undying effort and hands-on approach to teaching, which provides a guarantee that no student is left behind. He has consistently maintained above average pass rates and in his lecturing career of over a decade, more than 10 prize winners have emerged from his class.

Sugeeth’s distinct performance at lecturing must surely have been influenced by the innumerable qualifications he possesses. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics majoring in finance from the University of Colombo with a Distinction Pass and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management also from the University of Colombo, with a First Class Honours, again majoring in finance. His professional qualifications boast of membership of CIMA (UK) and CIM (UK). But rest assured he is not just someone with many qualifications and no teaching skills: his excellence in teaching is amply proved by his reception of the CIMA ‘Tutor of the Year 2010 Award’.

For Enterprise Strategy, Wisdom presents to you the Managing Director of Stax Inc., a global strategy consulting firm, Arj Wignaraja. Arj possesses wide experience in advising global clients on corporate strategy (and you might be lucky enough to get his advice on examination strategy!), on areas such as market entry, expansion in high growth areas and the financial services sector. This exposure renders him the ideal lecturer for Enterprise Strategy, where it is all about maintaining your own competitive position in relation to others.

Arj has also been involved with the prestigious Boston Consulting Group, where he has participated in the formulation of business strategies for Fortune 500 clients in the financial services and industrial goods sectors. His academic background includes an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and a BA in Economics with Honours from Princeton University. Well, if you were looking for a lecturer with the finest international exposure, you sure cannot get better than this!

Lectures for Performance Strategy, primarily considered as a ‘risky’ subject by CIMA students, are conducted by Channa Gunawardana, a highly commended lecturer with fourteen years worth of lecturing experience under his belt. Channa is your ideal lecturer for Performance Strategy, because his corporate experience is directly related to strategy formulation and development of risk management systems, giving him the utmost competence in explaining the cumbersome technicalities of risk and control strategy in an interesting and attractive manner.

Channa’s academic achievements, undoubtedly the source of his solid strategy-related background, include a First Class degree in Accountancy and Financial Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and an MBA majoring in Finance from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.

Well, with such an amazingly experienced panel of lecturers, how can you strategically go wrong? We at Wisdom assure you the best possible exposure to the corporate environment within our Strategic Level classes; when the exam is just round the corner, you will not be the average CIMA student memorizing pages and pages of theory, but rather be analyzing it all from the broader strategic perspective. After all, isn’t that what being a management accountant is all about?
