Edlocate opens doors for students to study in Malaysia

Edlocate a premier university representative for Australian universities has undertaken representation of 2 premier higher educational institutions in Malaysia due to demand by students. Malaysia has over the years progressed to be a country that has quality universities and offers selected courses of international recognition mostly at undergraduate level. The demand for such courses from international students has shown an increase which is evident in Sri Lanka too.

Malaysia is a newly industrialised market economy with a GDP of 6.5%. It is the third largest economy in South East Asia with the industrial sector leading to Malaysia’s growth. 60% of the population are Muslims with 20% Buddhists and 10% Christians.

The Swinburne University of Melbourne Australia has established Swinburne Sarawak Campus in the year 2000. It is a multidisciplinary institution with more than 3,000 full-time students from more than 40 countries including Sri Lanka and the Maldives. It is situated in the Kuching city – the 8th largest city in Malaysia - in the Sarawak State. The campus offers bachelor degree programmes in 5 disciplines – Commerce & Business/ Engineering (Electrical & Electronics and Electronic & Computer Systems) – 4 years Hon degree - / Information & Communication Technology/ Science (Biotechnology)/ Design (Graphic & Multimedia).

Students with 3 A/L passes (score of 7 on grades) could gain direct entry while those with lesser A/L passes or score can opt for an appropriate pathway programme via a diploma or a Foundation. The 4 Foundation programmes leading to the undergraduate programmes with 3 entries each year is also an accelerated pathway to a degree for those with excellent O/L results. For students keen to graduate from Swinburne Australia and join the Australian workforce, studying a year or two at Swinburne Sarawak and then joining Swinburne Melbourne is ideal as there is considerable savings in achieving the same end result.

Taylor’s University is situated in Kula Lumpur the second biggest city in Malaysia. It offers a variety of degree courses at its Lakeside Campus – from Architecture to Biomedical Science, Business, Communication, Computing & IT, Design, Engineering, Hospitality, Law and an excellent degree course in Medicine (5 years). There are Foundation programmes for those without direct entry scores at A/L.
Taylor’s offers the Adelaide based University of South Australia’s (UniSA) 5 Bachelor degrees -Management (Marketing), Commerce (Accounting), Applied Finance, Arts (Communication & Media Management) and Journalism Communication. Students who desire to graduate from an Australian university and join the workforce in Australia could do these courses with intent to transfer to UniSA after a year’s study at Taylor’s. The Taylor’s Bachelor of Engineering 4 years Hons courses in Chemical Engineering/ Electrical & Electronic and Mechanical Engineering too has articulation with corresponding degrees at UniSA.

Edlocate is directly appointed by both The Swinburne Sarawak campus (we also represent Swinburne Australia) and Taylor’s university. We handle all processes from placements to enrolment and visa processing. Talk to us for the next intake in August/ September for a complimentary personal counselling session.
