Moratuwa YMCA conducts open Junior Badminton Championships

The first open Badminton tournament for boys and girls was organised and conducted by the Moratuwa YMCA at its recently opened indoor courts on March 19 and 20. This tournament which was held under the auspices of the Western Province Badminton Association attracted a large number of up-and-coming players who maintained a high standard of play. Winners and runners up received valuable gifts, medals and certificates. Among the several sponsors were Sanasa Development Bank and Astron (Lanka) Ltd.

The final results are as follows
Under 11-Boys
Winner - M Janishika Perera
St Sebastian's College Moratuwa
Runner up - Benchard Fernando
St Peter's College Wellawatte

Under 11- Girls
Winner - Hasini N Ambalangodage Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda
Runner up - Geethmi M Abeyrathne Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda

Under 13- Boys
Winner - Stylinars Fernando St Peter's College Wellawatte
Runner up - M Harith Manjuka Royal College Horana

Under 13 Girls
Winner - K Thisuri Dihara Peiris Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda
Runner up - Hasini N Ambalangodage Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda
