Sports - Aney Is It True?

Charlie’s Angles

Sri Lanka has begun going Hollywood. The islanders have started their own episode of Charlie’s Angles. This time it is not with sexy chicks that kick the wind out of bad men, but a hoard of muscled men who are deeply into the game.

Besides Charlie, leading the gang is the Priest. A disciple who does not give a damn about anyone who is in his way. For him the entire lot has to be with the Angles if not it’s Kaboom!!!
Once we heard of a story about a left armer who was in the Toddy gang. Though a talented shooter, he was left in the lurch, until he joined the Angles. Now he is the South-paw of the Angles gang.
They say even Mr. Shadow – another gangster fell into trouble because of the Priest.

Pop goes the whistle
Once a powerful political party in Sri Lanka was called the uncle-nephew party. Even at the Citadel is hit with the same plague where the nephew runs the uncle who is as clueless as a blind wombat.

The uncle got the nephew six plus figure job and gave him the control of the tournament which latter has transformed into his wishing well. So much so it is said that he now has a shining new flat bought in London with the Citadel loot. But, ironically the nephew’s days are numbered.

The poor guy will have to hit the street once the tournament is over. Will it happen? May not! Now they say the airman who shot the captain on the leg to get his seat will have to be grounded to make way to give the nephew the three letter job that controls the citadel.

War
They say Citadel is not the place to be right now. The big games are just round the corner and the venues that the Nephew undertook to build are still in their structures and the heat is on.
The last Inter Citadel (IC) meeting had ended in chaos. The uncle and the secy had thrown the books at each other and the others had to pull them apart and call off the meeting. Coming colours are not so good.

Going for each other
Two well known officials are said to have gone for each other in front of the Citadel causing great embarrassment for all concerned. One is said to be a member of the association who had broken away to form another one and the other from the association who is a vice president and a well known one at that! Both these officials have lodged complaints to their governing bodies, but who will back who is the big question.

Letting the side down
A big ho-ha occurred at the Citadel because members of its welfare society had screamed that there was a shortage of Rs. 400,000. Anyhow the man who was at the center of it had dodged a meeting and has sent his representative because he could not face the situation. This is a big case of letting the side down!

Trouble at the edge of water
Recently a former big shot in the sporting world had to face the big man himself at a wedding held at a hotel on the edge of water. The big man had been flustered when cricket was discussed and he had told the man concerned, a former big shot in the spor, not to talk about the sport at a happy occasion such as the one they were attending. All this heated talk took place at a wedding of a former sport boss’s daughter.

Lady problems
With the World Cup around the corner meetings are taking place on all quarters. A meeting of this nature took place at Kandalama recently and almost all of them attending the meetings were accompanied by pretty ladies, who are not their spouses. It is even reported that one such lady who had accompanied one of the people concerned had decided to accompany another who had come for the meeting, causing a lot of heartburn and embarrassment!

Interest revolves around 20/Twenty
A ladies 20/Twenty tournament is now on and a lot of interest revolves around the competition. One lady is making a big effort to support one particular team. Strangely the others in the committee of this contest are also eager to support this particular lady. We wonder why!
