The Queen’s language

The Commonwealth Games are now taking place in New Delhi and some of our athletes have done fairly well having won silver and bronze. The sad part is that the officials accompanying these athletes have no idea of how to communicate in English and because of this set-back the athletes have been put to shame. A certain official who knows the Queen’s Language well has even volunteered to go to New Delhi but the issue had been shot down.

The super car
A powerful figure at the Citadel has ordered a power-packed car and he has even paid an advance of three million smackers for it! This guy goes around saying that his business is badly affected by hanging around the establishment but continues to do so. But the money he is paying for this super car comes from his own pocket and not from the establishment that he continues to work so diligently.

Choker block
It is well known that the Citadel is choker block these days with over 300 workers at beck and call. Now two more have been added to it and they are the son of a sister of a big wig and relation of a powerful man at the Center. If this type of recruitment continues there will not be any standing room at the establishment.

The strong arm of the law
A powerful guy attached to a leading game in the island was seen in the Hill Capital recently trying to pour oil on troubled waters as some of his relations were involved in a gambling act involving bookies. The guy had even tried to calm things by speaking to the long arm of the law but it came a cropper as the long arm of the law refused to budge from the stance they had taken.

Recommending for promotions
No doubt these are hard times and this seems to have affected those who are officiating cricket games as well. A certain top official who is famous for taking loans to tide over situations and not returning them is in the news. Instead of returning these loans he is going around saying that he could recommend those who have given loans to him for promotions.

Pleasing a big wig
The final of a key sporting event was postponed several times because the chief guest had been abroad. Ultimately when the final was held the big man was there to give away the awards. But the sad thing is that these youngsters who were involved in the sport had to keep themselves fit for the occasion as well as pray that the weather will hold just to please the big guy.
