Light classical music and jazz at LC Classics III

Ladies’ College talent takes centre stage once again, as the LC OGA presents LC classics III—a concert of light classical music and jazz at the Ladies’ College Hall on October 9 at 7.30 p.m.
LC Classics III features some of Sri Lanka’s finest musicians - pianist Ramya De Livera Perera, soprano Preshanthi Navaratnam and cellist Dushyanthi Perera, to name a few. Also performing are sopranos Peshali Yapa and Dinali David, flautist Anusha Attygalle Ondaatjie, jazz pianist and vocalist Dilukshi Sirimane and cellist Tamara Holsinger.

Leading artistes: Preshanthi Navaratnam, Dilukshi Sirimane and Ramya Perera.

Appearing as guest artistes are pianists Soundarie David and Eshantha Peiris, The Cantando Cello Ensemble and the Dizzy Heights Trio on piano, bass and drums.

Soundarie David will team up with Ramya for a four-hands version of Liszt’s ever-popular Hungarian Rhapsody and Eshantha will collaborate with Dinali David on some Gershwin favourites. The Cantando Cello Ensemble is preparing a fiery rendering of De Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance, amongst others, while Preshanthi and Peshali are performing a selection of arias that would satisfy any opera buff. They will also come together to perform one of Delibes’ best-loved pieces—the Flower Duet from Lakme.

The concert which promises to be an unforgettable evening is in support of the LC OGA Chapel Trust Fund and all performers have freely given of their talent and time for this cause.

Entrance is by programme, with seats priced at Rs. 1,000, Rs. 750, Rs. 500 and Rs. 300 (Balcony). The box plan is open on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ladies’ College Hall foyer.
