A labour of love by Batti police

At a time when the Police Force is getting flak from all sides, it was a welcome sight to see a posse of policemen in civil garb engaged in very laudable action – cleaning up Love Lane, in Batticaloa, and getting rid of dirt and garbage that had been piling up for weeks. These men were officers from the Police posts in and around Love Lane.

The neighbourhood of Love Lane lies in a prominent part of Batticaloa Town. This area has been long neglected by the Health Unit of the Batticaloa Municipal Council. The drains remain clogged for weeks on end, with disease-breeding elements.

But is this momentary relief? Will the MC Health Unit wake up and do something, for a change?
Meanwhile, our sincere thanks to the Police personnel of Love Lane for their labour of love.

Prince Casinader, Batticaloa
