Sri Lanka through the eyes of the younger generation

The Association of Professional Sri Lankans in the UK (APSL) in collaboration with the Institute of Research and Development (IRD) Sri Lanka, will hold an island-wide essay competition open to all school children in the age group of 16-19 years. The aim of the competition is to actively engage the country’s younger generation and to seek their ideas and engagement in the rapid development of Sri Lanka.

The deadline for the competition is October 1, 2010. Essays for the competition should include the five most important issues to be addressed urgently in one’s district for sustainable development.

The essays should identify issues and suggest possible solutions including how everybody could contribute as an individual and as a family. Essays could be submitted in Sinhala, English and Tamil and should be limited to 3000 words.
