Concert of Al-Sharia Muslim Girls' International School

A successful six-year service

Every great story has a beginning!
A school named, Al-Sharia Muslim Girls' International School, at Dematagoda Road, Colombo 9 is a school with a dream just like any other upcoming school; dreams worth achieving for the sake of the ‘little women’ of tomorrow.

On July 12 2010, this particular dream became a reality. The school held its first official concert at the Elphinstone Theatre, Maradana, a concert like no other which bedazzled the audience, keeping them at the edge of their seats.

The performances the girls put together, trained and perfected by their dynamic teachers were so beautiful, graceful and breathtaking, it proved that inside every little girl or woman is a bright colourful and magnificent swan waiting to lift its wings and soar.

All we have to do is give them the opportunity, no matter who they are or what background they come from. A girl is like a little bird, feed it with morale, determination, patience, wisdom, honesty, modesty, gracefulness, independence and take a step back and watch how that little birdie takes a few steps, jumps off the nest and soars!

The concert was all about giving these little girls the opportunity to shine, an opportunity to prove their talents on stage to an audience. The Chief Guest at this auspicious event was, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management Mrs. Siththy Marina Mohamed, the first ever Muslim lady to be inducted as a Secretary, and the Guest of Honour was Mrs. Shihana Aslam, Principal of C/Khairiya Muslim Balika Maha Vidyalaya.

Their presence was an inspiration to all who were present to prove to them the heights women can reach to achieve greatness. "Onward Then And Ever Upward, Strive In Honour's Name.

Failure Or Success Is Triumph If We Know To Play The Game!" is the quote on the school's prospectus and is what this school is known by.
