Immortal Hits Just For You

Reviving the melodious tone of the Sinhala Pop music, upcoming Sinhala pop music band “Chimes of The 70’s” will make their first musical appearance in Colombo on July 31, 2010 at 6.30 p.m. in the Bishop’s College Auditorium.

To add colour to the concert, some legendary stars of the 70’s like Indrani Perera, Anil Bhareti, Nihal Nelson, Vernon Perera, Shyami Fonseka, Rukshan Perera and Sri Kantha Dassanayake (Super Golden Chimes) will be featured at this rare show.

“Chimes of The 70’s” band was founded in last year by young musician Rukshan Karunanayake, who is a gifted musician of the young generation, being talented as a lyricist, melody maker, music director, lead guitarist and a vocalist. Rukshan stepped in to the music scene when he was 11 years old as a lead guitarist and up to now has achieved many successful goals in his musical career.

The other members of the “Chimes of The 70’s” band are Sohan Anuhas and Sugath Asanka (Keyboards), Dilshan Wijesekara (Rhythm Guitarist/Vocalist), Chamara Jayarathne (Saxophonist), Chaminda Pushpakumara (Drummer), Isura Roshan (Bassist/Lead Vocalist), Udesha Karunanayake (Child Drummer), Roshan Jayawardena (Percussion/Vocalist), Nirmani Rathnasekera & Windya Peiris (Female Vocalists).

The main aim in establishing this band was to revive and sustain the melodious sound of Sinhala pop music introduced bythe great musician late. Clarence Wijewardane, by creating new compositions of their own on this genre.

During its short history the band has created nearly 50 originals all of which the compositions of their leader, Rukshan. In this “Immortal Hits - Just For You” concert, the band will perform many of their originals to entertain the audience in their unique way. The compere for the evening will be Dr. Vijaya Corea who is one of the greatest comperes in the island. Also at this concert, you can watch the superb performances of the youngest drummer in Sri Lanka, Udesha Karunanayake, who is eight years old and at this age is capable of accompanying recordings.

The tickets of the “IMMORTAL HITS - Just For You” concert are priced at Rs. 1,500/=, 1,000/=, 750/=, 500/= and are now available at the Torana Music Collection (Liberty Plaza), Torana Music Box (Majestic City), ODEL - Colombo 07, Sarasavi Book Shop - Nugegoda and The Bishop’s College Auditorium.
