Singapore Informatics for higher learning facilities

Singapore Informatics was founded in 1994 with the mission 'to be the Global Leader in providing Quality Lifelong Learning Services, by exceeding customer expectations' and its first roots were at Unique Jewellers building on Duplication Road and at Liberty Plaza since 2000. From these humble roots Singapore Informatics has grown into what it is today.

The institute went on to celebrate its 15th anniversary last year and has produced over 300 graduates so far. Singapore Informatics is part of the Informatics Education Ltd (IEL) which was established in 1983 as a multinational cooperation and one of the largest education and training service providers in Asia.

Informatics provides quality learning services in fields such as Information & Communication Technology, Business, Finance, etc. and currently has 113 centres worldwide spanning 22 countries; NCC Education in UK which has 300 centres in 45 countries is a fully owned subsidiary of IEL. They own a campus in California USA and will be opening a new faculty in Australia as well.

When this is done IEL will cover the globe and be stationed in all major education hubs in the world.
Being a pioneer in the country's education industry, Singapore Informatics has offered cutting edge and specialized Degrees Programmes in addition to Diplomas, Advance Diplomas and Certificate programmes meeting the demands in educational industry.

Singapore Informatics has recently revised its syllabi as it continually strives for excellence in higher education. As a result of this revision Singapore Informatics has introduced new specialized programmes and degree pathways in the fields of Information Technology, Business, Marketing, Engineering and Cyber Security.

After gaining entry students can pursue academic succession in the Faculty of Information Technology by specializing in Computing, Technology Management or Networking & Cyber Security or in the Faculty of Business by specializing in Business Administration or even in the faculty of Engineering by specializing in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

At Singapore Informatics the lecturers who teach and train the students during the course, have no part in preparing nor correcting final exams attended by students, which feature makes the educational standard at Singapore Informatics a very challenging one for its exceptional students. All the diplomas and advance diplomas awarded by Singapore Informatics are validated by the National Computing Centre (NCC ) Manchester, UK & Informatics Academy Singapore. NCC is a world renowned higher education provider which is recognized and monitored by the UK government. NCC has numerous affiliations with many international universities.

However, all final year programmes offered by Singapore Informatics are awarded by prestigious British universities such as University of Portsmouth, Oxford Brookes University, Northumbria University and Prifysgol Cymru University of Wales, who are known for their world renowned standards in education and consistent ranking with educational governing bodies across the world.

Amith Wijayasooriya addressing the audience

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering an MSC in IT from the University of Hertfordshire and an MBA from the Federal University of Wales. In the near future we will also be offering Master's degrees in engineering as well.

Leading us in this new endeavour, Mr. Boshan Dayarathne who is the institute's director envisions expanding Singapore Informatics by setting up new centres across the island. In this regard the institute has shifted to its new location at No. 519, T.B. Jaya Mw, Colombo 10 to provide state-of-the-art facilities housed within a brand new five storey building with a capacity of approximately 1000 students. Among these facilities will include a network lab with CISCO product, engineering labs and a brand new library.

Mr. Dayarathne also commented that the branch in Batticaloa will commence operations shortly and in the near future branches in Kandy, Galle and Jaffna will be opened to help educate more Sri Lankans and offer them world recognized degrees.

Mr. Dayarthne's policy is to make the services of SICI available to the whole island. He also urges parents of students who are unable to enter local universities to join the Singapore Informatics family and experience education at the same standard as that of programmes conducted on campus at the universities while feeling safe and comfortable in their home country. Qualified lectures will lead the journey of learning with the support of the management and staff who will make the learning experience exciting and as pleasurable as possible.

Last year at SICI's 13th annual graduation ceremony, there were four world prize winners felicitated in addition to over two dozen merit award winners. Producing world prize and merit award winners has been the norm rather than the exception at SICI year after year. This speaks volumes about the quality of education provided by this fine institute.

SICI also provides corporate training and offers packages that can be tailored to the needs of an organization. This includes providing training to prepare candidates to sit Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Cyber Forensics and Project Management Professional (PMP).

This year SICI will be hosting the first Cyber Security Summit in South Asia in collaboration with the EC Council. The president and vice-president of the council will also be participating in this event.

Real life CIA and FBI agents will be brought down to explain what cyber security is and how vulnerable our systems are. This shows how far ahead they are in terms of the IT field.

SICI has a partnership with the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments (UK) to offer credentials in financial derivatives, operational risks, wealth management, etc.

The SICI students' committee is very active and has formed Soccer and Basketball teams. It also organizes various events such as sports events and parties. The president of the students' committee says that the campus offers an experience similar to what you would find in top class universities and enables students to enjoy special events such as the graduation ball fully. He also urges people to get on board with SICI and enjoy higher learning facilities to its fullest.
