Awards Day at Amana International: A success
By R.H Zameer, Head - Upper Section

Amana International School was started on January 21, 2003, with 105 students in a small number of classrooms and today it has raised our children up to Grade 9 (Masha Allah).

There were some dedicated teachers who joined the school at a very early stage, such as the principal Al Haj M.M.M Suaib who has been pursuing the task of instilling Islamic values to the children and its environs for the past seven years, we pray to Allah for His continuous blessing and guidance and for His help in pursuing our goals.

The occasion of the 6th Annual prize day and Islamic day of Amana International School to facilitate the students who excelled in English/ Arabic Islamic activities on June 6, was held in the John de Silva Auditorium, Colombo 7 and the Kindergarten was on June 8, at the Elphinstone Hall, Colombo 10.

We started our programme at 10.00 am and the kindergarten was at 3.00pm. There were many events and invitees, the Chief Guests were Al Haj M.S.M. Liyawudeen Chairman of the Center for Islamic Studies and Al Hajj Y.L.M. Navavi, Director of the department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.
Some of events were Drama, Qirath, Hadees, Islamic songs. Parents and teachers encouraged them. As a result we were able to watch a delightful day of songs, drama and speeches.

We had Inter School competition for invited schools and they were awarded with trophies and certificates by the Chief Guest. Even the teachers were awarded for their achievements and overall performances.
Amana like many other International Schools do not cater to the rich elite only, but we cater to the poor and needy by giving them almost near free education, talented students are rewarded with scholarships in the Grade 5.

Amana has pioneered the necessary environment for educational, spiritual and cultured advancement of every child who passes through its portals, so that every Amanian will be a good child, a good neighbour and a good Sri Lankan Muslim who will serve the country as a nation and the community.

Success in everything comes only through hard work Isha Allah May Allah help us to make the future of our children at Amana bright and prosperous.
Ameen and Jazakallah
