Silver and bronze for Phoenix Ogilvy at Goafest

Phoenix Ogilvy brought home two awards at the recently concluded Creative Abby Awards in Goa, the fifth edition of India’s premier advertising festival, Goafest 2010. The 2010 edition of the premier advertising awards festival for South Asia, that centred around the theme of 'Survival of the Freshest' as always was fiercely contested, with countries including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka submitting a grand total of 4,200 entries, the agency said.

Accepting the awards

Whilst Phoenix Ogilvy’s entry ‘Goezy’ won Silver in the Field Marketing category, its work with Iodex balm won a Bronze award in the Ambient Category, thus creating history as the only agency in Sri Lanka to win a silver award at a regional advertising awards show, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Ogilvy India took home the maximum metals with a staggering total of 43 awards, which included one Grand Prix, three gold, one silver and thirty bronze trophies. Managing Director and CEO of Phoenix Ogilvy, Mr. Irvin Weerackody, said, “Our accomplishments at Goafest reflect this agency’s concerted effort to create effective advertising and to think out of the box, which invariably results in a high level of creativity.

Competing with the best in Asia is indeed inspiring. Winning silver and bronze in this highly competitive South-Asian award show is very significant to us, especially, at a time when moves are being made to debar us from participating in the local Chillies awards, since we have declined to become a member of 4As or IAA.”
