Sri Lankan team at Abu Dhabi conventions summit

A Sri Lankan team led by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) and SriLankan Airlines, made a strong impact at the Gulf Incentive Business Travel and Meetings (GIBTM) held last week in Abu Dhabi, according to the SLCB.

The event had over 7500 scheduled meetings which was 17% over last year. Among the confirmed business that SLCB had secured were a conference from Poland, Adventure Rally, 1000 pax religious group from Cambodia , a conference from India, while many contacts established had positive responses to the offers made by the industry members, SLCB said in a statement.

“The GIBTM is a very focused event for MICE industries particularly for Asia. Exhibitors have the opportunity to meet quality professionals and the hosted buyers which the Sri Lankan team made full use of,” said Marketing Manager of the SLCB Kumudu Hennedige.

The delegation was led by Ms Hennedige and officials from SriLankan Airlines and included Janice Hakel Ranasignhe (Kairos Events), Nilanthi Fernando (Nkar), Shamali De Vaz (Silverline), Hameem Farook (Amaya Resorts) and Micheal Elias (Walkers).
