Mr. H.U. Silva, the President of the Sri Lanka Archery Association speaking to the Sunday Times said that the two archers have enough time to train for the competition and improve their standard. Both Nipun and Dilhara excelled in their pet distances at the archery contest in New Delhi.

The Sri Lanka Archery team also competed in the Archery Grand Prix in Bangkok, Thailand where they were unable to achieve any notable performances. Dilhara Salgado, is a beautician by profession and was a Bronze Medalist at the South Asian Federation (SAF) Games held in Bangladesh.

Eighteen-year-old Nipun Senevirate of the Sri Lanka Air Force is the current National Champion. He bagged this title for the first time in 2004 and since then has been keeping it with him with hawk-eye performances.
