Binupa doing well in Canada
Binupa Wijesinghe

Binupa Wijesinghe, who was ranked behind Mithun Perera in club competitions in Sri Lanka three years ago, is going great guns as a golfer in Canada where he has gone for higher studies.

He bagged the first places at the Nike Junior Series Event 4 at Eagle Creek Golf Club and the Nike Junior Series event at Diamondback Golf Club and was a quarter-finalist at the Ping Canadian Junior Match play Championship at St.Andrews Valley Golf Club.

This is in addition to being placed fourth at the Series Event at Peninsula Lakes Golf Club and being placed second in the Nike Golf Junior Series Event 6 at the Tarandowah Golfers Club.

Taking part in the Adams Club Junior Championships at Trillium Wood, young Binupa turned in a fine performance to take first place.

In other events Binupa was Stroke Play Champion for Brampton Golf Club and represented Brampton Golf Club at the GAO George S Lyon Championship where the team finished T3rd and Individual T3.

Binupa also had a career low of 6 under par (66) at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Dunrobin, Ontario and a First Career Hole-In-One on Hole 17 at Bayview Golf & Country Club and maintained a +1 handicap index. He was also winner of the Order Of Merit on The CJGA for 2009.
