Global Changemaker at Global Youth Summit-Lihini Ratwatte

Lihini RatwatteLihini Ratwatte (18) of Hillwood College Kandy, Sri Lanka has done her school and country proud by becoming an Ambassador of goodwill and hope.

Lihini, a student of Arts and Languages will be representing her country at the Global Changemakers Global Youth Summit, which will be held in London from November 15 to 21. Global Changemakers will create and support a large global network of future young activists and social entrepreneurs aged between 16 and 25 and develop them into Changemakers.

A Changemaker is a young activist operating through a range of national and international networks, who is able to influence his or her community as well and speak to authority with confidence and passion.

The British Council acts as the connector, enabler and amplifier throughout this programme. Lihini will focus on "Social Entrepreneurism" and "Public Health", which are her main areas of community activism. She has worked as an ardent community worker since the age of 12, and has been involved in many social service initiatives put forth by her school. She states that her family and school played a great role in laying the foundation in her career as a social worker.

"I am honoured to receive this golden opportunity in representing my small nation.

I also consider myself extremely privileged to be part of this movement as it would impact upon my future ambition as a journalist.

However, I'm eager to reach out to the world as a Global Changemaker and do my best to make at least a small change in making this world a better place."

We wish Lihini the very best in all her future endeavours and hope that she will bring credit to Hillwood College and Sri Lanka.
