Mazenodians advance to semis

De Mazenod Kandana advanced to the semi finals of the Under 15 Division One cricket tournament when they defeated Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa by 21 runs on the D/L method in the quarter final match played at the CCC ground yesterday.

The Vazians chasing 127 for victory set by the Mazenodians were well behind the target and were struggling on 79 for 7 before a heavy shower stop the proceedings which resulted in an easy win for the Mazenodians.

De Mazenod 126 in 44.3 overs (Wadeesha Jayasuriya 29, Shanil Perera 18, Nadeera Silva 16, Malshan Fernando 15: Miusgan Obris 4 for 34, Sanjeewa Perera 2 for 10, Ranmal Rodrigo 2 for 27)
Joseph Vaz 79 for 7 in 31.4 overs (Miushan Obris 29, Ravindra Dilshan 16: Tharuka Silva 2 for 11, Sachith Vishwakula 2 for 12)
