Another exam snag

By Chathuri Dissanayake

Yesterday's GCE (Advanced Level) Examination saw the Government Department of Examinations laying down an impossible task for students.

The question paper on Drama and Theatre calls upon the students to select two questions from four given sub sections, which totals eight. Thereafter, the department wants them to answer a total of "four questions"

The wrong advice created confusion among examination supervisors as well. The Education Ministry Secretary Nimal Bandara claimed that supervisors of all centres were instructed verbally to inform the students to answer one question from each sub section.

However, many centres had not been informed of this mistake and candidates had not known what to do.
