Forrest Gump, Oscar winning journey to history

Robert Zemeckis’ multiple Oscar winning movie ‘Forrest Gump’ comedy-drama film based on the 1986 novel will be screened at 6 pm on Tuesday, August 4 at the American Centre, Galle road, Colombo 3.

The Academy Award winner for Best Picture, Best Director Robert Zemeckis, and Best Actor Tom Hanks, this unlikely story of a slow-witted but good-hearted man somehow at the centre of the pivotal events of the 20th century is a funny and heartwarming epic.

The film tells the story of Forrest Gump’s epic journey through life meeting historical figures, influencing popular culture, and experiencing first hand historic events of the late 20th century while being largely unaware of their significance, owing to his borderline mental retardation.

It also stars Robin Wright Penn, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson and Sally Field.
