Director Ron Howard’s Oscar winning movie, ‘A Beautiful Mind’, the biopic of prominent mathematician John Forbes Nash Jr. will be screened at 6.00 pm on June 9 at the American Center, Colombo-3.
Based loosely on the book of the same name by Sylvia Nasar, ‘A Beautiful Mind’ stars by Russell Crowe in the lead role of a brilliant but arrogant and conceited professor Nash. Other roles are played by Paul Bettany, Adam Goldberg, Anthony Rapp, Christopher Plummer and Judd Hirsch.
At Princeton University, John Nash struggles to make a worthwhile contribution to serve as his legacy to the world of mathematics. He finally makes a revolutionary breakthrough that will eventually earn him the Nobel Prize. After graduate school he turns to teaching, becoming romantically involved with his student Alicia. Meanwhile the government asks for his help in breaking Soviet codes, which soon gets him involved in a terrifying conspiracy.
Nash grows more and more paranoid until a discovery turns his entire world upside down. The film won 4 Academy awards including the Best Director and Best Picture and another 27 wins at other festivals together with 49 nominations. |
