The book, 'Arbiters of a National Imaginary: Essays on Sri Lanka Festschrift for Prof. Ashley Halpe' edited by Prof. Chelva Kanaganayakam was launched by the International Centre for Ethnic Studies at the auditorium of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations on December 9.

The essays that make up the volume were written as a tribute to the scholarship, career, creative talent and profound humanity of Prof. Halpe, says an ICES press release adding that a striking aspect of Halpe's contribution is his commitment to inter-disciplinary and to comparative studies.

The speakers at the launching ceremony which was presided by Prof. W.D. Lakshman were Nihal Rodrigo, Tissa Abeysekara, Siromi Fernando, Wilfred Jayasuriya and Maithree Wickremesinghe.
