Captivated till the end

The annual concert of Elizabeth Moir School follows the success of previous shows such as Dazzle and Breakin' Bars, this year the students aspire to produce yet another musical explosion – S.O.S – that will keep you captivated till the very end.

S.O.S, is set in England where a group of orphans who may lose their home to a vicious politician planning to demolish it for a construction site, try desperately to stop him. The orphans put on a mind-blowing concert to increase awareness in order to save their orphanage. To add to the excitement, the escalating romance between an orphan and the Politician's son builds more tension. The show has a twist at the end that will leave the audience amazed.

This sensational production will feature some of the school's finest in the performing arts such as Alexander Vogt singing "You to Me are Everything," Tharuka de Silva singing "I Don't Need a Man," Han Young Park singing "Michelle," and Imla Ikram singing "I'll Stand by You." There is also an acapella version of "Apologise" which is something we've never tried before and look forward to. Added to this is breathtaking dancing by students Juhi Subba, Angeleen Renker and Anithra Basnayake.

S.O.S also promises a wide variety of stunning dances such as Hip Hop, Ballroom, Tap dancing and Break-dancing which have been carefully choreographed by Natasha Jayasuriya and Erin Rae Peterson. Natasha is a past student and who is responsible for the astounding choreography in her shows Hipnotic and Attitude which many of you would have been amazed by. The Vocal Director is Sanjeev Jayaratnam of Revelations the award winning all male choir.

The set, costume and graphic design was all done by the shows' gifted Producer Minah Faiz. As usual the driving force behind the production of this concert has been the vibrant and talented Dr. Aida Mansoor who is the Director and script writer. The show is sponsored by Mobitel and V.V. Karunaratne & Co.

SOS takes place on October 31 and November 1, at the Bishop's College Auditorium, at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at Elizabeth Moir Senior School 4/20 Thalakotuwa Gardens , Colombo 5. For information, contact 2512275, 2512109 and 5333624.
