SLPI to hold forum on media’s social responsibilities

The Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) is organizing an open discussion on "Advertising, Media and Misguiding the Public" on Monday, October 6 at 5 p.m. in the SLPI Auditorium, 96, Kirula Road, Colombo 5.

The Speakers will be Irida Lakbima Editor-in-Chief Sundara Nihathamani de Mel and Colombo University Political Science and Public Policy Department Senior Lecturer Dhamma Dissanayake. The session will be chaired by Irida Lankadeepa Editor Ariyananda Dombagahawatta.

The forum will discuss the recent Sakvithi Ranasinghe financial scandal and the role of the media in this case. It will focus on the advertising policies and the social responsibilities of the media in the context of public information, a media release from the SLPI said.
