Cookery garnished with opah dupa

By Natasha Fernandopulle

It will be more spice and laughter with ‘The Opah Dupa Show’ being part of ‘The Inner Circle with Koluu’, an entertainment programme being aired monthly since June 30 on ETV.

Koluu, Jith and Lou Ching Wong

The Opah Dupa Show, which came on ‘Inner Circle’ on September 7, with a rerun on September 11, pokes light-hearted fun at society. The other facets of ‘Inner Circle” will continue with guest appearances, entertainment, and of course, cookery!

“The intro brought in a lot of feedback and we realized there’s potential,” said Sonali Wijayaratna, the producer of ‘Inner Circle’

The producers hope they will be able to air ‘The Opah Dupa Show’ at least fortnightly and then weekly.

The concept of the show including its characters was created by Sheahan J. Wijayaratna. The main character, Opah Dupa (Koluu), a society lady is always in the news, in vogue and the first to hear and spread the juiciest gossip around town. Her personal assistant is Miss Heda Weda (Lou Ching Wong), also constantly in the news and with a string of admirers – the keenest of them being Opah’s good friend Dunstan Katakatha (Jith Peiris).

If some good light-hearted entertainment is what you are looking for, then tune into ETV on Sunday, September 28, at 8 p.m. If you happen to miss out, the rerun will be on October 2 at 10 p.m.
