Ananda College wins 3rd annual East Coast Cricket Festival
 

NEW YORK-- Ananda College OBA emerged the Winner of the Col. Henry Steele Olcott Challenge Cup at the 3rd Annual East Coast Cricket Festival (www.cricketfestival.blog.com) held last weekend in New Jersey, USA, beating Nalanda College, in an unexpected battle of the maroons’ finals.

The 8 teams which participated in the tournament include Ananda, Nalanda, Royal, St Thomas', St Josephs' Trinity and Maris Stella. There was also a Combined Colleges team .

The event organized by the Ananda College Old Boys’ Association East Coast Chapter was a grand success with more than 400 guests attending from all East Coast States of USA. Seven schools took part in this year along with a combined schools team. The live band with “Papara” music, Sri Lankan food stalls, and children’s activities along with some competitive cricket matches made this a memorable event to all those present.

Asoka Jayawardena one of the senior members of the Ananda College Old Boys Association East Coast Chapter presented the Col. Henry Steele Olcott Challenge Cup to the skipper of the winning Ananda team, Vidura Jayasooriya. The East Coast Cricket Festival has undoubtedly established itself as the biggest and most looked forward to Sri Lankan community event in the East Coast of USA.
